Anson, Douds, Iowa, born August 15, 1847, near Kilbourne, Iowa, departed this life on July 15, 1938, at 6:15 p.m., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Josephine Hamilton at Fort Madison, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 10 days. In 1870 he moved to California, returning to Iowa in 1900, spending most of the remainder of his life in Van Buren County. Anson, Douds, Iowa, born August 15, 1847, near Kilbourne, Iowa, departed this life on July 15, 1938, at 6:15 p.m., at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Josephine Hamilton at Fort Madison, Iowa, at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 10 days. In 1870 he moved to California, returning to Iowa in 1900, spending most of the remainder of his life in Van Buren County. He was united in marriage May 5, 1876, to Celia Carson, who passed away on April 2, 1880, at Gilroy, California. To this union was born one son, Samuel, who died in infancy. On October 5, 1881, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Goodrich at Gilroy, California, who preceded his death March 25, 1938. To this union were born five daughters, two of whom preceded him in death: Mrs. Lulu Plowman and Mrs. Alma Plowman. The other three survive: Mrs. Celia Pool of Douds, Iowa, Mrs. Georgia Staubus of Mingo, Iowa, and Mrs. Josephine Hamilton of Ft. Madison, Iowa. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. One brother and two sisters preceded him in death. He was a member of Oak Grove Free Methodist Church, a good Christian character, and passed his last days peacefully and uncomplainingly. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 27, at the Douds M.E. Church in charge of Rev. R.T. Richards of Douds. Interment in the Leando Cemetery.
