Read More	Pine Bluff Commercial, Wednesday, September 28, 1932, Page 2: Obit.—Henry Grooms Hanna, 83, one of the oldest justices of the peace of both age and service in Jefferson county, died at 4 o’clock yesterday afternoon at his home in Sulphur Springs. “Squire” Hanna, as he was known to all of his friends throughout the county, was born March, 9, 1849 in Penbroke, Ky., and came to Pine Bluff in 1876 following the Civil war. His first wife was Miss Ida Curry, daughter of M. Curry, one of the early settlers in Jefferson county before and after the Civil war conducted a male academy at Sulphur Springs and operated a place known as Curry’s Vineyard at Lee Springs. After his first wife’s death, “Squire” Hanna married a miss Chadick who died in 1912. Except for a brief period in which he lived in Texas, “Squire” Hanna held office as justice of peace for his township for approximately 40 years. He was known as one of the communities leading citizens and gained other fame for himself for his ability as a fiddler. He entered contests in all sections of the country and was in great demand at the old-fashioned square dances. “Squire” Hanna is survived by one daughter, Home, of Pine Bluff, and four sons, Jordan Earl of Houston, Texas, John V. of Birmingham, David C. of Houston and Vernon of Cameron, Texas. Funeral services, conducted by the Rev. Aubrey Little were held at the Sulphur Springs Baptist church this afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in Fitzhugh cemetery. Ralph Robinson & Son mortuary was in charge. Pallbearers were C. L. McKenzie, Fred Cherry, Gus Petty, A. M. Morrow, Will Watson and W. A. West.
