Description	:	Henry Grove Goodburn son of Elmer H. and Mary Elizabeth Goodburn was born May 27,1894 at Marcus, Iowa. On August 20,1919 he was united in marriage with Alma Katherine Reusch at Cherokee. They farmed in the Marcus community for 33 years and made their home there until 3 months ago when they moved to Cherokee. In the fall of 1951-52 Mr. and Mrs. Goodburn visited a daughter and son-in-law in England where Mr. Goodburn suffered a heart attack. The daughters are Mrs. Tobias Schindler, of Lubbock, Tex, and Mrs. Vernon Green, of Cherokee and sons are Elmer L. of Marcus, Donald of Holstein and Gerald of Cleghorn. Other survivors are his father Elmer Goodburn, stepmother, a sister Marguerite Alberty of Sioux City, a step sister Sister Mary Sylvene of Emmetsburg and ten grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, two brothers, and one sister. Mr. Goodburn was a member of Grace Methodist Church of Marcus most of his life, transferring recently to St. Paul Methodist Church here. He was a active member of the Old Fellow and Rebecca Lodges at Marcus and also a member of the Encampment and a Past Caption of the Canton No 50. Funeral services were held June 6, 1953 at St. Paul Methodist Church in Cherokee with Rev.J. E. Feller officiating, Miss Marjorie Wilcox and Mrs. Robert Thomson of Cleghorn sang "Going Home" and "Goodnight," "But Morning Up There." Mrs. Ivan Bushlow accompanied them on the organ. Pallbears were George Lucken, Otto Frangenburg, Merle Prunty, Jame Rae, of Marcus and Walker Phipps of Cherokee. Burial was at Oak Hill cemetery. [Cherokee Daily Times: July 2,1953: Page 3]
