Read More	OBITUARY OF FORMER SYRACUSE RESIDENT The following is taken from the Broadwater News, of Broadwater, Nebraska, and tells of the death of Henry Hartman a former old-time resident of Syracuse and who will be remembered by the old people of Syracuse: Henry Hartman was sick some time before he would acknowledge that there was anything much the matter, but finally upon his 89th birthday he gave up and went to bed and gradually grew worse, and after suffering untold death at last came to his relief on March 25, 1924. Grandpa Hartman was one of the oldest if not the oldest man in Morrill county. He had' always been a very hard worker. Last year he raised a large garden and truck patch, from which he sold a good many dollars' worth of produce during the summer. No ordinary man in his 89th year would have been able to do this amount of work, he also took care of a good many stands of bees. He was always busy. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. Henry Hartman was born at Williamsport, Penn., February 20, 1835, and died at his home in Broadwater, Nebraska, on March 26. 1924, at the age of 89 years, 1, month and 5 days. Mr. Hartman grew to manhood in the east, and in 1856 he was married to Sadie Casner, of which union six children were born, two of whom survive their father, Oliver Hartman of Omaha, Nebr., and Lewis Hartman of Los Angeles. California. Later Mr. Hartman heard the call of the west and came to eastern Nebraska on Christmas day, in 1878, making his home in Syracuse. Here he was united to Mrs. Frances Clark in 1881, who passed away twenty-one years later on October 15, 1902. Three children graced their home, Harry Hartman of Lincoln, Ralph and Alfred Hartman of Broadwater, Nebr. In 1912 Mr. Hartman again came west, settling on a home¬stead not far from North Platte, Nebr., proving up on same in 1915. A year later he came to Broadwater, this, state, where he has Since made his home. Mr. Hartman was for many years a member of the Congrega¬tional church at Syracuse. The funeral services were held at the Broadwater Presbyterian Church, conducted by - Rev Geo C Kersten, the pastor. Burial was in the Broadwater cemetery. Mrs. Wm.
