He had been in failing health for the past several years. Henry Herbert Heckethorn, 89, was born in Jefferson county on Sept. 3, 1873, the son of Worth and Rachel Hall Heckethorn. He farmed in both Jefferson and Wapello county (sic) before his retirement. He was married to Blanche Dell Simmons on July 13, 1903. She died Jan. 23, 1953. He was also preceded in death by one son, Carl, who died in 1949. Surviving are four sons, Raymond and Harold, both of Ottumwa; and Mervin and Vern, both of Fairfield; one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Wrenn (sic. Dorothy Wren), Danville, Ill.; 31 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. The body is at the Community Funeral home in Ottumwa.
