Description	:	Henry J “Hen” Beitzel, 72 Born at Bittinger, MD, to German immigrant Henry Beitzel and Mary Elizabeth (Shoemaker) Beitzel, Henry J Beitzel was a prominent farmer of the community near Bittinger. Hen spoke German in his parents home, learning English when he went to the local school and always talked with an accent. Hen Beitzel was married December 20, 1904 to Cynthia Snyder. Hen spoke German in his parents home, learning English when he went to the local school and always talked with an accent. Hen Beitzel was married December 20, 1904 to Cynthia Snyder. The young couple lived on 20 acres by the Casselman River, joining property of the Bride's parents August & Mary Snyder. This was a gift from the bride's parents. The couple later owned 70 more joining acres they bought from the estate of Burkholder. Their farm was a half mile from Dung Hill Road. Hen was a truck farmer, planted many fruit trees apple, cherry, plum with berry bushes and grew grains. He raised 12 children. and was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Bittinger. He died suddenly at home of a heart attack 21 July 1951. He was predeceased by two daughters: Alma Alverta and Elsie Beitzel Opel. He was survived by his widow Cynthia, 10 children: Curt, Warren, Harold, Ellis, William Beitzel; Violet Higgins Frostburg, Beulah Resh, Grantsville, Melda Harris High Point NC, Trellis Rassier Hannacroix NY, Alice Bittinger Akron Ohio, Hollie Fazenbaker, Westernport, MD and 24 grandchildren. Burial was in the Emmanual Lutheran Church Cemetery, Gottes Achre, Bittinger, Md.
