Langhorst was born to Albert Langhorst and Mary Staritz Langhorst on January 10, 1916, at Milligan, Franklin township, and passed away November 11, 1992, at the Fillmore county Hospital in Geneva, at the age of 76 years, 10 months and 1 day. Henry was raised on a farm south of Milligan. He attended District 43 grade school and graduated from Milligan High School in 1933. Henry was engaged in farming until he was called up for military duty during WWII. He was inducted into the service on June 17, 1941. While in the service he served in the Asiatic pacific Theatre, with the sixth division. He was honorably discharged on September 29, 1945. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star with oak leaf clusters. After the service henry came back to Milligan area and again began to farm. Henry was married to Helen M. Theimer of Geneva on September 9, 1961. He then moved from the farm to a home in Geneva. Henry was a member of the American Legion HSSK Post 240 of Milligan, a lifetime member of the Geneva VFW Samuel J. Marsh Post 7102 and the Disabled American Veterans. He was also a member of the Geneva Masonic Lodge, Sesostris Temple in Lincoln and the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva. He served as board president and later as a director of the Farmers Coop in Milligan for 18 years. Henry enjoyed reading and subscribed to just about every magazine. He would read them from cover to cover. But the one thing that he really enjoyed was farming and takin care of his yard and garden. Henry was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Helen; brother, Albert H.; sisters, Mrs. Rudy (Engeline) Slama, Mrs. LaVern (Adeline) Fitzgibbon, and Evelyn Dlouhy, and many friends. Funeral services were conducted from the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Geneva on Monday, November 16, 1992, with Pastor Lyle Sass officiating. Mrs. Norval Lomax accompanied Delwin v. Myers who sang “The Lord’s Prayer” and “Because He Lives.” Congregational hymn was “I Know that My Redeemer Lives.” Casket bearers were Vaughn C. Fulton, Brian Krenke, Reuben A. Krenke, Norval Lomax, Jessie b. Wright Jr. and John Wright. Honorary casket bearers were Ivan N. Krenke and Jeffery J. Krenke. The Geneva Masonic Lodge provided the funeral rites at the church and the Geneva VFW and Milligan American Legion provided full military services at the cemetery. Interment was in the Geneva Public Cemetery. The Nebraska Signal November 19th, 1992 page 13.
