Henry was born on August 6, 1925, in rural Kesley, Iowa, the son of John Henrick and Gesina (Baro) Neuhaus. As a young boy his mom took Henry to Germany to be baptized. Neuhaus, age 91, of Shell Rock, Iowa, died Saturday, November 12, 2016, at Unity Point Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. Henry was born on August 6, 1925, in rural Kesley, Iowa, the son of John Henrick and Gesina (Baro) Neuhaus. As a young boy his mom took Henry to Germany to be baptized. Henry was raised in the Shell Rock area graduating from the Shell Rock High School in 1943. In 1944, Henry entered the United States Army serving during WWII in the South Pacific. He was honorably discharged in 1946. On November 5, 1949, Henry was united in marriage to Wilma Arns at First Evangelical United Brethren Church in Waterloo. He spent his entire life farming South West of Shell Rock. Henry was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock and Avery-Slight American Legion Post #393 of Shell Rock. He enjoyed fishing, farming, and being outdoors, however, what Henry enjoyed most was spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Henry's memory is honored by: three sons, Larry Neuhaus of Shell Rock, Robert (Missy) Neuhaus of Cedar Falls, and Doug Neuhaus of Shell Rock; four grandchildren, Ryan (Kari) Neuhaus, Mario Neuhaus, and Patrick (Amber) Neuhaus, and Kimberly (Joshua) Rago; four great-grandchildren, Kyle, Matthew, Mario Jr., and Aalyiah Neuhaus; a brother, John (Dixie) Neuhaus of Shell Rock; and a sister, Margaret (Dick) Miller of Waverly. He was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife Wilma on May 3, 1999; a son, Stanley J. Neuhaus; and a brother, Helmut Neuhaus. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 16, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock where the family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 17, at Peace Lutheran Church in Shell Rock with Pastor Michael Knox officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Shell Rock with Avery-Slight American Legion Post #393 giving honors.
