(Hinricks) Siebels. ******************************** Lemars Semi-Weekly Sentinel Friday, November 13, 1925 Le Mars, Iowa OLD RESIDENT ANSWERS CALL HENRICH SIEBELS WAS ONE OF THE EARLY SETTERS IN GRANT TOWNSHIP Henrich Siebels, a resident of Plymoth county for the past forty years died at his home in this city, Tuesday morning. The deceased had been in failing health for some time due chiefly to ailments incident on old age. Mr. Siebels was past 80 years of age. He was a native of Germany and was born in the duchy of Oldenburg June 6, 1845, where he grew to manhood. He came to America in 1882 and located shortly after near Sterling, Illinois, where he worked for two years and then came to Plymouth county and settled in Grant township, where he worked on farms and rented land. He later moved to a farm near Ireton, and then came back to Plymouth county, farming again in Grant township, and then bought a farm in Johnson township. He came to Le Mars in 1965 to make his home, where he continued in active work at various pursuits until the weight of age began to tell on his physique. Mr. Siebels was married twice, his first wife, whose maiden name was Dorothy Dornbusch, dying 38 years ago. He subsequently married Antje Friedrichs, who passed away in 1911. Of the late years Mr. Siebels divided his time at the homes of his children. He was the father of seven children four of who survive him. They are John Siebels, of Ireton; Mrs. John Hauschild and Mrs. J. D. Ahlfs, of Le Mars; and Mrs. Frank McCoy of Los Angeles, Calif. He also leaves eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A sister, Mrs. Henry Rolapp, lives in Le Mars, and he has two brothers, one of them living at Walnut, Illinois, and one in Germany. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church, the pastor, Rev. J. J. Vollmar, officiating and the interment was made in the city cemetery. Mr. Siebels had a wide acquaintance in the county and had a large number of friends by whom he was respected as a good citizen and neighbor. Obit Contributor: Doris H. (47169507)
