Siebels in Rapid City, S. D. Mr. Siebels left LeMars, July 7, to spend a vacation in the Black Hills. On his way back home he was taken there on Wednesday afternoon, Death was believed to have been caused by the heat. Mr. Siebels has been employed at the Johnson Motor company since the first of the year. He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and two children; Henry Siebels and Mrs. Katie Wilde, of Plymouth county. No funeral arrangements have been made. Lemars Semi-Weekly Sentinel Friday, July 17, 1925 Lemars, Iowa DICK SIEBELS DIES ON TRIP WELL KNOWN LE MARS RESIDENT EXPIRES SUDDENLY WHILE ON VACATION Friends were shocked Wednesday afternoon when a telegram was received from Rapid City, S. D., announcing the death of J. D. Siebels, of this city. The message gave no particulars. His son, H. Siebels, and his daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Wilde, left immediately for Rapid City, S. D., on receipt of the news. Mr. Siebels and his wife, in company with A. P. Dornbush and the George Frerichs families left about two weeks ago on a sightseeing trip through the Black Hills. “Dick” Siebels, as he was almost universally called, was a long time resident of Plymouth county and was a successful farmer in Grant township and took an active part in community affairs and served in several township offices. A few years ago he came to Le Mars and built a fine new home. He was about 56 years of age. Besides his wife and two children he leaves two sisters, Mrs. Dick Aalfs and Mrs. J. Le Mars Semi-Weekly Sentinel Friday, July 24, 1925 Le Mars, Iowa FRIENDS ATTEND FINAL SERVICES FUNERAL OF THE LATE J. D. DIEBELS, PIONEER RESIDENT, HELD WEDNESDAY The funeral of the late J. D. Siebels, a long time resident of Plymouth county, was held Wednesday afternoon at St. John’s Lutheran church, and was largely attended by old friends and neighbors. Rev. J. J. Vollmar, pastor of the church, conducted the services and paid a fitting tribute to the memory of the deceased. J. D. Siebels died July 15, while on a vacation with friends on a tour of the Black Hills. Members of the party arrived at Rapid City, S. D., the Saturday previous to his death. Mr. Siebels was fatigued after a long ride and they decided to rest over Sunday in Rapid City. Mr. Siebels was taken ill Monday evening and suffered a hemorrhage of the stomach. He was taken to a hospital where he failed to rally and passed away. Mr. Siebels had been a sufferer from ulcers of the stomach and some time ago had undergone a serious illness from which he recovered and was apparently enjoying normal health. He had looked forward for some time with pleasurable anticipation to the trip which proved his last. J. D. Siebels was born at Jever, in the grand duchy of Oldenburg, Germany, on September 2, 1868, where he received his early education. In 1883 he came with his parents to America and the family located in Whiteside county, Illinois. A year later they came to Iowa, and settled on a farm in Sioux county, where he assisted in the work of the farm. On attaining manhood he bought a farm in Grant township, this county, where he farmed successfully until he retired from farm life and came to live in Le Mars in 1919. Mr. Siebels was engaged later in the automobile business. He was active in community affairs and had interests in a number of enterprises and while a resident of Grant township, this county, where he farmed successfully until he retired from farm life and came to live in Le Mars in 1919. He was a loving husband, father, a loyal friend and good neighbor. Mr. Siebels was united in marriage with Miss Meta Emmen, in 1890. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, a son, Henry Siebels, and a daughter, Mrs. Lawrence Wilde, of this county, his father, Henry Siebels, of this city, three sisters, Mrs. J. D.
