The former teacher at Almena, Kan., earned his college degree in math education at the University of South Dakota and graduated from Ravenna High School, excelling in sports at both schools. He was inducted into USD's Football Hall of Fame. Services for Heider will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kearney.
