Henry was born in St. George on November 9, 1909, son of the late George and Azelda (Bussiere) Matheson. He was the husband of Marion and father of Elizabeth, Vance, and David. He is survived by three brothers and two sisters, eight grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Ricky, and two brothers. Before his retirement in 1969, he worked for Connors Bros., Blacks Harbour. He was a member of St. Mark's Anglican Church, St. George. The funeral service was held at the St. George Funeral Home on Oct. 22 with the Rev. Philip Ward officiating. Ruth Matheson played the organ and sang Just a Closer Walk With Thee. Pallbearers were Burton Matheson, Bedford Matheson, Wayne Matheson, Mark Matheson, Garnet Matheson, and Al Hooper. Along with many floral tributes, donations were made to the Charlotte County Cancer Society, Fundy Hospital, L'Etete Christian Church, Hospice of Charlotte, Inc., and the Heart Fund. Interment took place at the St. George Rural Cemetery. Among those attending the funeral were people from Campobello, Deer Island, St. Andrews, Saint John, Machias, Blacks Harbour, and Fredericton.
