He was 23 years and 6 months old. Henry and Charles Joy, brothers, served together in the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry. On 17 Feb 1862 Henry transferred to the Western Flotilla where he also served in the U. S. Navy. Between 1862 - 1863 he served on the U. S. S. Baron de Kalb and Clara Dolsen and was discharged on 11 Aug 1863.
