Description	:	On the 19th of April, in Allen Co., O., of Lung fever, Bro. HENRY SHENK, aged 58 years, 10 months, and 5 days. He was buried on the 20th, followed to the grave by a large concourse of friends and relatives. Services by C. Culp and the writer. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss. Bro. Shenk was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for many years, and for the last few years, especially, he was very zealous in trying to make the church as interesting as possible. He was buried on the 20th, followed to the grave by a large concourse of friends and relatives. Services by C. Culp and the writer. He leaves a wife and six children to mourn their loss. Bro. Shenk was a faithful member of the Mennonite Church for many years, and for the last few years, especially, he was very zealous in trying to make the church as interesting as possible. Nearly the last time we conversed with him, it seemed as if his greatest concern was about salvation and the welfare of the Church, and during his illness he expressed his love for the Church, in requesting his sons, to do all for the Church that they could. As a father and husband, he was always kind and affectionate; often giving good instruction and admonition, always ready and willing to aid those who were in want. When there was any trouble between friends or neighbors, he was always ready to reconcile them with kind words. He was often persecuted, and complained not; always ready to return a good deed for an evil one; thus the neighborhood in which he resided, have lost a very kind and useful neighbor, the church of which he was a member, mourns the loss of a bright, shining light, and the bereaved family mourns the loss of a kind and affectionate husband and father. But while we are thus bereft of one that was dear to us, oh let us comfort ourselves with the glorious thought, that there is one more added to that happy company in the mansions above; let us not mourn as those which have no hope; but let us mourn as though our loss were his eternal gain. Le [sic] us consider him as one passed from a world of tribulation and sorrow, to a world of joy and happiness, and let us imitate his example in all meekness and kindness. Let us ever be ready to do good to those around us, and especially let us be interested in the church, and in the welfare of souls. Brethren and sisters, let us seek to let our light shine that there may be evidence of a hope within us when we too must die, and to you, the children of the deceased, Oh! be sure to regard his kind instructions. Love Jesus and obey his commandments, and at last you too will be received from this dark and gloomy world, into the heavenly mansions there to meet your father again. Dear sister, keep very close to Jesus, and he will care for your and at last bring to his rest.
