Read More	MUHLENBURG, HENRY—Henry Muhlenburg, one of Geneva’s pioneer residents, passed away at the Geneva General Hospital Friday morning, May 20, 1949, after a few days illness. He was aged 87 years, 6 months and 5 days. Mr. Muhlenburg was born November 15, 1862, at New Boston, Ill. He was the next to the youngest, in a family of five brothers and three sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. In 1885 Mr. Muhlenburg came to Fillmore County, Nebraska, and settled on a farm six miles west of Geneva, where he lived until he moved to the farm home one mile west of Geneva in 1901. Here he resided until 1945, when he retired from the farm and moved to Geneva. February 23, 1886, Mr. Muhlenburg was married to Lillie Huston of Geneva. To this union was born one daughter, Jane. Mrs. Muhlenburg died April 7, 1902. March 23, 1924, Mr. Muhlenburg was married to Mame Harbaugh, who, with the daughter survive. Mr. Muhlenburg was always interested and active in civic and church organizations. He became a member of the Methodist Church in early manhood and attended services regularly until quite recently. He joined the Modern Woodmen of America in 1895, and became a member of the Masonic Order in 1908. He served a number of years as a member of the board of education in District 75. He was active in the management of the Fillmore County Fair, being on the board of directors many years. He was especially interested in the fair racing, and for a long time served as secretary of racing. He was a kind, helpful, genial personality and he will be greatly missed by the entire community. On the farm he was greatly interested in pure bred stock and had a fine herd of Jersey cattle that won many prizes in stock shows. Besides the wife and daughter, he is survived by several nephews and nieces and a host of friends. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 22, at the Geneva Methodist Church; Rev. Ben F. Wallace officiated. Interment was in the Geneva Cemetery. The Masonic order was in charge of the services at the grave. Members of the local M. W. A. camp were honorary pallbearers. Among those from out of town attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Platt and Edmund Jackson of Keithsburg, Ill.; Miss Kathryn Adkison of Washington D. C.; a granddaughter, Mrs. Rees Phillips of Denver; Dr. and Mrs. G. A. Heath and Mrs. Claude Rainey of Fairbury; Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wiedman of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Huston and son of Central City; Mr. and Mrs. Keith Rice and daughter of St. Libory and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Peterson of Silver Creek.
