Description	:	Henry O. Bohlen of Parkersburg, Iowa, died early Friday morning, December 26, 1980, in the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa. Mr. Bohlen had been ill for about 5 weeks and a resident of the home for two days. He had reached the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 6 days. Bohlen of Parkersburg, Iowa, died early Friday morning, December 26, 1980, in the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa. Mr. Bohlen had been ill for about 5 weeks and a resident of the home for two days. He had reached the age of 86 years, 11 months, and 6 days. Henry was born the son of Onno and Martha Bohlen on January 20, 1894, in Germany. At the age of 18, he came to the United States and settled in Minnesota, along with his father and brothers and sisters. His mother had died in Germany. A few years later they moved to the Aplington area. On October 2, 1917, Henry was united in Marriage to Hanna Fischer in the parsonage of the Bethel Reformed Church, rural Aplington. To this union they were blessed with eight children, 2 sons and 6 daughters. They farmed and lived in Butler, Bremer, and Grundy Counties, living near Allison, New Hartford, Waverly and Stout and following retirement they moved to their present home in Parkersburg, in November of 1961. Mr. Bohlen was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Parkersburg. Mr. Bohlen is survived by his: wife, Hanna; 1 son, Larry Bohlen of Delta, Utah; 5 daughters, Mrs. Harry (Mathilda) Loger, Phoenix, Arizona, Mrs. Marvin (Dena) Westendorf, Parkersburg, Mrs. William (Carrie) Everts,: Parkersburg, Mrs. David (Betty) Aswegen, Parkersburg, and Mrs. Gary (Maxine) Freerks of Clarksville; 1 sister, Mrs. Frank (Martha) Schwandt, Milbank, So. Dakota; 2 brothers, Ben Bohlen of Milbank, So. Dakota, and Herman Bohlen of Allison; 28 grandchildren, 32 Great grandchildren, and 2 Great Great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 son Henry Bohlen, Jr., 1 daughter, Anne Madsen, and 5 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1:30 P.M., Monday, December 29, 1980, in Salem Lutheran Church with Rev. Gene V. Anderson officiating. Organist was Mrs. Teunis Byl, and a vocal duet was Teunis Byl and Harold Aswegan. They sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art". Casketbearers were: Emery Jibben, James Everts, Dennis Aswegen, Larry Bohlen, Jr., Dale Madsen, and Brent Freerks. Interment was in the church cemetery. Schwartz Engelkes Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
