Description	:	Hanna Alberts Bohlen, formerly of Parkersburg, Iowa, was born the daughter of Casjen and Hidena Bierman Fischer on February 25, 1900, in rural Butler County near Aplington, Iowa. She received her education in a rural school near her home and completed the 8th grade. She then moved with her family to a farm near Butler Center, Iowa. On October 2, 1917, Hanna was united in marriage with Henry O. Bohlen in the parsonage of the Bethel Reformed Church, north of Aplington, Iowa. She received her education in a rural school near her home and completed the 8th grade. She then moved with her family to a farm near Butler Center, Iowa. On October 2, 1917, Hanna was united in marriage with Henry O. Bohlen in the parsonage of the Bethel Reformed Church, north of Aplington, Iowa. After Henry and Hanna were married they moved to South Dakota and rented a farm for more than 17 years. Henry farmed 328 acres all alone with horses. They left South Dakota and moved back to Iowa, near New Hartford. Then they moved to a farm near Janesville. Later they moved to a farm near Stout. Following retirement they moved to Parkersburg, Iowa in 1961. She retired as a devout home maker. On March 12, 1993, Hanna became a resident of the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa. As a young lady, Hanna served as a church pianist. She belonged to the Ladies Aid, and a member of the Salem Lutheran Church and she was presently a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg, Iowa. She enjoyed listening to music, gardening, canning, and especially loved and enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. At 1:25 p.m. Sunday, April 28, 1996, Hanna died in the Community Nursing Home in Clarksville, Iowa, due to natural causes. She reached the age of 96 years, 2 months and 3 days. She was preceded in death by her: husband, Henry O. Bohlen, died 12-26-80; 1 son, Henry Bohlen, Jr.; 2 daughters Annie Madsen and Mathilda Loger; 1 brother, Tom Fischer; 3 sisters, Lizzie Wildeboer, her twin sister, Tena Wordes, and Annie Rust; 1 son-in-law David Aswegen; 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Hanna is survived by her: 5 children &. spouses, 1 son, Larry & Judy Bohlen, Brighton, IA; 4 daughters, Dena & Marvin Westendorf, Carrie & William Everts, Betty Aswegen, all of Parkersburg, IA, and Maxine & David Magedanz, Clarksville, IA; 27 grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 56 great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.
