Henry Schumacher was born April 12, 1923, on a farm one and one-half miles north of Tilden. He attended school in Tilden. In 1939, his parents moved to a farm east of Neligh. Henry completed his sophomore, junior and senior school years in Neligh before working with his father on the farm. Henry married Marge Conner on Oct. 20, 1941, in Tilden. Henry worked with his father until 1944 when they moved to Neligh and he went to work for the State of Nebraska and Cygas. In 1951, he went to work for KNEnergy Inc. Henry and Marge had four children, two boys, Lonnie and Fred, and two girls, Judy and Vicki. Lonnie passed away the same day he was born. Judy married Blayne Beguin, and together they have seven children. Vicki married Bill Fisbeck and they have three children. Fred also has three children. In 1954, Henry became manager for KNEnergy Inc. and moved to Holyoke, Colo. They lived there for 13 years. They were then transferred to Rushville in 1967 and remained there until 1973 when they were transferred to Yuma, Colo. In Yuma, Henry was made district manager, and they lived there until he retired in 1986. Henry and Marge then decided to sell their home in Yuma and move back to Neligh. They had a big yard and enjoyed raising a garden every year. They loved to travel and went to Arizona and California in 1986, Washington, Oregon and northern California in 1989, Florida in 1990 and the New England states in 1992. Henry and Marge celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1991. They moved back to Rushville in 2006 to be closer to their family. Survivors include Henry's wife, Marge of Hay Springs; daughter Judy Beguin and husband Blayne of Rushville; daughter Vicki Fisbeck and husband Bill of Fort Collins, Colo.; son Fred Schumacher of Broken Bow; sister Bernice Maine of Ontario, Ore.; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Henry was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Ella Schmacher, brother Lyle, sisters Ellen Kahland and Lois Nelson and son Lonnie Ray.
