Description	:	3-10-1911, THE OTOE UNION: Mr. Farnsworth spent his boyhood days, and received his early education and reached the age of his majority at his native birth place. He attended the Iowa state university at Iowa City. From this place he enlisted as a volunteer into the U S service, having enlisted with Co D, 44th Iowa Infantry. Read More	3-10-1911, THE OTOE UNION: Mr. Farnsworth spent his boyhood days, and received his early education and reached the age of his majority at his native birth place. He attended the Iowa state university at Iowa City. From this place he enlisted as a volunteer into the U S service, having enlisted with Co D, 44th Iowa Infantry. He remained with the regiment until they were discharged. On February 20, 1868, Mr. Farnsworth was united in marriage to Helen Burdett, from the same county which he resided. In 1869, he with his wife started overland for Nebraska, which was then nothing but rolling prairie. He located on the farm now their present home having resided nearly 42 years in one location. Mr. Farnsworth endured many inconveniences during his early settlement here, Nebraska City being the neaarest trading point. He helped to organize school district No. 20, which is one of the oldest in the county. Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth raised a family of nine children, four having died, tow sons Marshall and Algie and two daughters, Adell and Aldine. He is survived by his wife and four sons, Alonzo, Frank, William, and Sumner respectively and one daughter Nelle Ivett, five grandchildren, also three sisters and one brother, Mesdames E.D. Draper, Nellie Ivett, and John M. Farnsworth of Los Angeles and Mrs. E.E. Kelly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Mr. Farnsworth commenced failing in health six years ago and has been gradually declining ever since and had always been very hopeful and patient. He has shown remarkable endurance and vitality never complaining despite the fact that there could be no hopes for his recovery. The funeral was held from the home Saturday afternoon at two o'clock conducted by Rev. D.M. Sayles and interment was made in Unadilla Cemetery.
