Description	:	Henry Robert Neumann, 75, master brewer and director of the Queen City brewing Company, died last night at his home, 164 North Mechanic street. He had been ill for some time. Born Sept. 28, 1865, at Oppelian, Silesia, in Germany, Mr. Neumann came to the United States in 1891. He was one of the deans of the brewing industry, having entered the business in 1879 at the age of fourteen in his father's brewery in Oppelian. Read More	Henry Robert Neumann, 75, master brewer and director of the Queen City brewing Company, died last night at his home, 164 North Mechanic street. He had been ill for some time. Born Sept. 28, 1865, at Oppelian, Silesia, in Germany, Mr. Neumann came to the United States in 1891. He was one of the deans of the brewing industry, having entered the business in 1879 at the age of fourteen in his father's brewery in Oppelian. He completed the technical part of his training at the Berlin Versuchs and Lehranstalt for Brewing in 1890. When Mr. Neumann arrived in the United Satates he was employed by several New York breweries, before being made master brewer of the Orange County Brewery of Middletown, N. Y. He remained with this plant for four years. He came to Cumberland in 1901 and since has been with the Queen City Brewing Company in the capacity of master brewer and director. Due to illness he was compelled to retire from active business about one year ago. Mr. Neumann was vice president of the Master Brewers Association of the Maryland-Delaware-Washington District and held honorary membership in Ohr Lodge No. 131 A.F. and A. Masons. He was also a member of Cumberland Lodge No. 63, B.P.O. Elks and at one time served on the organization's Board of Governors. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Margaret Neumann, and four daughters, Misses Elfrieda M. and Helen L. Neumann, and Mrs. Margaret N. Wilson, all at home and Mrs. Wilbur D. Sills, this city.
