Description	:	Henry Roe Field was the only son of John Benton Field (1869-1935) and his wife Kate Hall Collins (1872-1959). His paternal grandparents were Thomas William Field and his wife Margaret Moir; and his maternal grandparents were Dan Collins and his wife Margaret Hall. Henry was born in Leaksville, NC. In 1905-7, he was a student at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. By 1910, his family had moved to Manhattan, New York, and he was an accountant with a tobacco company. In 1905-7, he was a student at the North Carolina College of Agriculture and Mechanical Arts. By 1910, his family had moved to Manhattan, New York, and he was an accountant with a tobacco company. On 29 Dec. 1913, Henry married Edythe Beatrice Blackwood. She was a daughter of Louis Edgar Blackwood and his wife Edith Golty, of Brooklyn, New York. Henry and Edythe began their married life in Montreal, Canda, where their first son, Henry Roe Field, Jr. was born. By 1920, they were back in New York, living at Buffalo, NY, and Henry was a general manager for a wholesale cigar company. Their second son, Paul Blackwell Field, was born in New York. By 1930, they were living in Maplewood, New Jersey, and Henry was Secretary Treasurer of the Lipton Tea Company. At a later date, Henry owned a Buick automobile agency in the South. His second marriage was to Clara Whitehead, a teacher.
