Read More	Henry Roper Edge Jr., age 81, husband of Alice Robbins Edge, of 542 Bethany Church Road, passed away Wednesday afternoon, June 14, 2006. Born in Spartanburg County on Jan. 2, 1925, he was a son of the late Henry Roper and Lillie Johnson Edge. Mr. Edge attended Stetson University and Clemson University. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served with the 87th Infantry Division, Patton's 3rd Army during World War II in Europe, for which he was awarded the Purple Heart, a Bronze Star, a World War II Victory Medal, an American Theater Service Ribbon, EAMET Service Medal, a Good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, a Combat Infantryman Badge, and a Presidential Citation. Mr. Edge was employed in textiles, electronics, mechanical engineering and farming. He was a member of Woodmen of the World CP 531 for 62 years and was a life-long member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church. In addition to his wife of 60 years, Mr. Edge is also survived by his sons, Stanley Edge of Taylors, S.C., and his friend, Frances Whitfield of Travelers Rest, S.C., Larry Edge and his wife, Donna, of Reno, Nev., and Brent Edge and his wife, Dianne, of Simpsonville, S.C.; a brother, Charles Edge of Spartanburg; three sisters, Margaret Dickson of Spartanburg, Cornelia Rhinehart of Moore, and Carolyn Bridwell of Woodruff; his grandchildren, Kimberly Ray of Pelzer, Kelly Clark of Roebuck, Christine Callon and Cory Edge, both of Reno, Nev.; and his great-grandchildren, Victor and Tiffany Ray, Carter Callon and Jorja Clark. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 16, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at Poplar Springs Baptist Church, with Pastor Robert Bevill and Reverend Harold Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Interment, with Military Rites, will follow the service in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials in remembrance of Mr. Edge may be made to the Poplar Springs Baptist Church Building Fund, 790 Highway 417, Moore, SC 29369.
