Description	:	The following was provided by Jim Bruders on February 10, 2012. The DOB differs from our Jefferson county genealogy sources. The Jefferson county recorded DOB was July 28, 1957, death on June 25, 1933, aged 75y 10m 27days. However, it is entirely possible that the information provided to the Recorder's office/newspaper obituary section was incorrect. In deference to Jim's personal inspection of the church records in Germany, this memorial will use July 29, 1857 for the DOB: "Henry T Bruders: Born Heinrich Wilhelm Theodore Bruders in Flessenow, Mecklenburg-Vorporman, Germany on July 29 1857, the firstborn son of Johann Joachim Hartwig Bruders and Anna Marie Louise Hamann. At the age of 19, Heinrich was drafted to serve in Kaiser Wilhelm's Army. He received his discharge from the Hqrs. 34th InfantrieBrigade Mecklenburg-Schwerin, headquartered in Wismer, in June 1877. Several years later, and, after a short courtship, Heinrich married one Johanna Friedrika Sophia Schroeder, the daughter of Maria Schroeder of Neukloster and Johann Hahn of Wismer, on September 10, 1980. In early 1882, like many of their fellow countrymen, Heinrich and Johanna decided to emigrate to America. And so, on March 3, 1882, they left Hamburg, Germany, aboard the ship "Hansa" (sic. not 1881 as listed in the obituary). Accompanying them on this journey, were his mother Anna age 53, his brother Johann age 22, and his sister Wilhemine age 17. After arriving in America he eventually settled in Iowa where he worked for a while as a farm laborer and eventually in the iron works in Fairfield... He was survived by his wife Johanna and six children." --------- Additional Bruders family information provided by Jim Bruders pertaining to some of Henry's siblings. Provided for context of Henry's family settling in Iowa: "Preceeding Heinrich to the United States, possibly as early as 1872, was his younger sister Sophia Fredericka Johanna Bruders who emigrated with her Uncle John (Karl Johann Joachim Bruders) and reportedly settled in the Bloomfield, Iowa area. When her Uncle John died in December 1878 or January 1879, Sophia, who was commonly called Anna, became the sole heir to his estate valued at around $50.00. After his death, in February 1879, the court appointed one F.W. Moore as her guardian. Sometime after Uncle Johns' death, Anna was adopted by John and Sophia Cook of the Bloomfield, Iowa area. It turns out, that Sophia Cook was Sophia Haman, the sister of Heinrichs' mother (Anna Marie Louise Haman Bruders}, who had also come to the United States from the Flessenow, Germany area sometime in the late 1800's. Both Anna Marie and Sophia died and are buried in Davis County, Iowa. Heinrichs younger sister, Wilhemine Sophia Christine Bruders married one George Wyman in Bloomfield, Iowa on August 8, 1888."
