Henry Thimmes, 602 West Wheeling street, a shipping clerk at the Lancaster Packing company on Front street was critically injured this afternoon at two o'clock when he was thrown from the rear end of one of the company's trucks, which was loading at the plant. The driver, Clarence Roby, started away from the platform, without knowing that Mr. Thimmes was on the truck. The force with which the truck pulled away caused Thimmes to lose his balance and he was thrown violently to the sidewalk, striking the back of his head. The injured man was rushed to the city hospital in the J. H. Sheridan ambulance. Dr. Stenger, the attending surgeon, following an examination, believed the skull had been fractured. An X-ray by Dr. Ralph Smith was to be taken later this afternoon. OBITUARY Lancaster Daily Eagle, Lancaster, Ohio, Monday, 14 Apr 1930, Page 1 INJURY FATAL TO H. Thimmes Local Man Dies Of Fractured Skull As Result Of Fall From Truck The tragic death of Henry Thimmes, 502 W. Wheeling street occurred at 6:15 p. m. Saturday at the city hospital, four hours after he had received a fractured skull as a result of a fall from the rear of a meat truck at the Lancaster Packing Company plant on Front Street where he was employed for several years as a shipping clerk. Besides the widow, there survives nine children as follows: Edward, of Cumberland, Md., Mrs. Bertha Nourse, and Miss Alice Thimmes of Columbus, Carl and Walter of this city and the Misses Clara, Anna, Henrietta, and Jane all of the home and also one brother, Frank of Zanesville. The deceased was a member of the Holy Name society and the Lancaster Lodge B.P.O.E. In his earlier life, Mr. Thimmes conducted the Mithoff House livery, and later was proprietor of a livery stable, now occupied by the Central Delivery. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 9 o'clock in St. Marys church with interment in St. Marys cemetery by J. H. Sheridan funeral director
