He came from Kentucky at the age of five years, locating in Bentonsport, Iowa, in Van Buren county, and in this county, he spent nearly his entire life. To this union six children were born, all of whom survive as follows: Harry of Selma, Ia.; Walter of Moravia, Ia.; Alonzo of Stronghurst,(Ill.); Mrs. Sarah Washburn of (Wisconsin); Mrs. Anna Cooper of (??); Mrs. Nora Holbert of (??), Ark. He is also survived by (??) grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Grubbs and Mrs. Sam Askerman(??) of Douds, Ia. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mrs. Truman Grubbs. He was married a second time to Doris Shurman, Sept. 20, 1894. She passed away in Sept. 1928. Funeral services were in the Leando church at 2 o'clock, Dec. 18, with the Rev. J.D.
