Read More	Source: The Victor Record 4/8/1965 H. von Aswege Services Held Tues., April 6 Henry von Aswege, son of Meinert von Aswege, Sr., and Gretchen Duin, was born Dec. 16, 1887, in Ackley, Hardin county, Iowa. He was the eldest son in a family of 13 children. He received this education in Buffalo Center and Mankato Business College, Mankato, Minn. He was baptized in Ackley and confirmed in the Lutheran faith April 12, 1908, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran church, Johnson, Minn., Gervasius Fisher, pastor. He was united in marriage May 15, 1918, with Katherine Adella Strait in Watertown, S. D. To this union four children were born. After their marriage they resided at Castlewood, S.D. where he was associated with the Citizens State Bank until 1928, when they moved to Victor where he participated in the opening of the Victor State Bank. He was cashier of this bank and a member of the board of directors when he retired in April of 1959, having completed 41 years in the banking business. In September, 1928, he became a member of the St. James Lutheran Church, Victor. After spending three weeks in the hospital as a result of a failing heart, he passed away at 4:10 a.m. April 3, at the age of 77 years, three months and 18 days. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Adella, three daughters, (Marion) Mrs. C. H. Otterstedt, Peoria, Ill., (Ruth) Mrs. J. C. Frey, Waukegan, Ill., (Grace) Mrs. Sam Belland, Williamsburg, one son, Marvin, of Morton Grove, Ill., 10 grandchildren, six sisters, Mrs. Charles Althoff, Minneaplis, Minn., Mrs. Martin Meers, Johnson, Minn., Mrs. Max Oschmann, Columbia, S.D., Mrs. Roy Gassler, Orange, Calif., and Mrs. A. H. Powell, LaMirada, Calif., two brothers, Ben von Aswege, Riverside, Calif., and John von Aswege, Graceville, Minn., besides other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by parents, four brothers, Reinhardt, Meinert, George and one who died in infancy; one granddaughters, Jacqueline Kay Otterstedt. Funeral services were held at St. James Lutheran church in Victor Tuesday, April 6, at 2 p.m. with Rev. Edward Beckmann, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Cloyd Lyman and Mrs. Herbert Neuhaus sang "Jerusalem Thou City Fair and High" with Mrs. George Keller at the organ. The congregation sang "I Fall Asleep In Jesus' Wounds" after the sermon. Pallbearers were: John Brown, Herman Fruendt, John Geis, Arthur Koehn, William Kilcoin and Wesley Simpson. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Koehn took charge of the floral arrangements.
