At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Clay County, Kansas, where he lived on a farm until 1897, when he moved to Abilene. his home was here until his death. Read More	RC printed Feb 3, 1949 Henry Walters was born in Nottaway township, St. Joseph county Michigan, June 2, 1873, the son of Solomon and Sapphira Walters. At the age of five years he moved with his parents to Clay County, Kansas, where he lived on a farm until 1897, when he moved to Abilene. his home was here until his death. In 1902 he married Miss Emma Weckel. Two sons, Fred and Harold were born. He suffered the loss of his companion in 1933. For a number of years he was employed by the Abilene Flour Mills and for 20 years he was employed by the city. He was forced to resign in 1944 because of ill health and since that time he has been a faithful janitor at the Wesleyan Methodist church. During a revival meeting conducted by the Wesleyan Methodist church he was converted and was among the first to join the newly organized church. In the same year he was married to Mrs. Katie Epler of Abilene. He passed away at this home January 26, 1949, at the age of 75 years, six months, and 24 days. He was a faithful husband, a kind and considerate father and a good neighbor. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Mrs. Ernest Berger, Mrs. William Stuck, Mrs. Chris Dunable and one brother, Lee Walters. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife; two sons, Fred of McPherson and Harold of Detroit; three step-daughters, Miss Blanche Epler of Miltonvale, Mrs. Opal Engle of Abilene and Mrs. Grace Campbell of Marion, Ind.; four step sons, Ruel, Grant and Russell Epler of Detroit, Mich., and Paul of Colombia, South America; two brothers, Joseph of Clay Center and David of Abilene; seven grandchildren, nephews, nieces, other relatives and a host of friends. (Note-his second wife, Katherine Haldeman Epler, was the widow of Abram Epler; she d 28 Nov 1959 in Abilene and is bur in the Rosebank cem near Hope; she was a cousin of Dwight D. Eisenhower)
