As told to me my my Mother. She came from some where in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. White. She had a brother of the same parentage, Charles White. I didn't know his age. She came from some where in Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. White. She had a brother of the same parentage, Charles White. I didn't know his age. After the children were grown Grandma and Grandpa were divorced, and Grandma married Warren Evans. I like to think of him as my Grandpa. I think that they lived somewhere in New Mexico. On my father's side as told to me by my Mother was: In 1700 or 1800, Three brothers came here from Germany. They went three diffent ways. I think it was Dad's Grandfather that settled in or near Birmingham, Alabama. Dad's Mother and Father died while Dad was young and still in Grammar School. He went to live with his Grandmother. They didn't get along very well, so when Dad was of age. He went down to New Orleans. He brought a trunk with him which contained several family things. He got a job on a boat going to Africa with a boat load of Mules. He got permisssiont to leave the trunk at the place were he was living and he shipped out. As they sailed toward Africa and when ther were in sight of land, they pushed the mules off and made them swim to shore. The ship went on to England and then back to New Orleans. When Dad returned, he went to get his trunk, and it was gone. Someone had stole it. So he had lost a lot about his family. This we do know that Dad was born in 1881, and Mother was born in 1887. I have no idea where or when Mother and Dad met. It could have been skating on ice or on roller skating. Mothe was very good at both. Dad loved baseball. Maybe they met at a game. I don't know. I don't know where they were married. This I do know that Dad had learned a lot about building Saw Mills. Mother told me that after they married. She, Dad, and two single men traveled around buliding Saw Mills. Mother sold me about one place in one of the Sourthern States that had the "Blue Law" (which was that no one could work on the "Sabbath"). Dad told Mother to get all the luggage (also for the two single men) because the crew needed that SUnday morning to finish the mll, and to be at another mill on Monday morning. So the men finished the mill and ran for the train. As the train was pulling out. The Sheriff was just coming over the hill to arrest htem, but they and the train was gone. Sometime before I was born Mother, Dad, Grandma, and Grandpa Evans were own Mexico to build a mill for an American Company. This was in Madera, in the State of Chihuahua. South of El Paso and north of Central part of Mexico. I was born there January 12th, 1912. My birth was recorded in the Court House, which burn down after I was born, and after I was recorded in the court house. I now have U.S.A. Citizenship Papers. This was when "Dios" (???) attack the town of Madera. Mother , Grand mother and Grandpa Evans, and Me (less than year old) all went out of Mexico through El pasco. I don't know where we settled somewhere in New Mexico. Dad was captured and forced to walk across Mexico to Mazatlan there he caught a boat for San Francisco. He was in a hospital for a short time. When he was let out of the hospital. He ran into another sawmill man that Dad had met before. Dad asked him if he knew of any mill was hiring. He said that there was a mill in a little town of Scotia near Eureka. Dad caught a boat for Eureka in northern California. He then caught a train to Alton. Then he cuaght another train to Scotia, got a rooom at the bunk house. He sent for Mother. Mother and I got a train for San Francisco. (I don't know when We left for California). When we did get to San Francisco, We caught a boat for Eureka. Then we caught a trian to Alton, but there was no train that day for Scotia. So Mother with me in a Baby-Bugy. She started out for Scotia. It was I would guess about 8 mile around a bluff, but she went down the rail road track bumpity bumpit. That is how we got to Scotia, when I don't know - ???"
