Dirks of Anamosa was found dead behind his plow yesterday morning. Mr. Dirks, age 21 years, arouse early ate a hearty breakfast, and went to the field to plow corn. An Uncle Henry Dirks, was plowing in a field adjoin that of his nephew, the deceased. The uncle noticed that the younger Dirks' team was idle, and had been for some time, so he sent one of his boys over to investigate the trouble. The boy found his cousin lying behind the plow dead. He had just finished a row of corn and had turned the team around and put the shovels down, then fell over dead. It was estimated that he had been dead for about an hour and a half before discovered. The doctor summoned pronounced death due to heart failure. Mr. Dirks had not been ill, in fact appeared to be in perfect health. He had not complained of his heart or any other aliment. However about a year ago he had a little touch of heart trouble, but not enough to quit work or require medical attention The coroner's inquest, held at the farm five miles east on the Monticello-Anamosa road resulted in a verdict of death due to heart failure. Mr. Dirks passed his twentieth birthday last March. He is survived by his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. D.J. Dirks, one brother, Ernest; two sisters, Mrs. Henry Weers of Scotch Grove and Emma at home.
