Description	:	Henry Wortman, 80, Summoned by Death Henry Wortman, 80, passed away at his home on last Thursday night. Death resulted from a stroke, which he suffered the previous Sunday. A son of Ferdinand and Mary Anna Wortman, the deceased was born at North Vernon, Ind. on February 23, 1862 and died on April 9, 1942. Coming to Nebraska in 1871 with his parents, he located at West Point, Nebraska. On April 17, 1888 he was united in marriage to Mary Berger of Monterey, Nebraska. Read More	Henry Wortman, 80, Summoned by Death Henry Wortman, 80, passed away at his home on last Thursday night. Death resulted from a stroke, which he suffered the previous Sunday. A son of Ferdinand and Mary Anna Wortman, the deceased was born at North Vernon, Ind. on February 23, 1862 and died on April 9, 1942. Coming to Nebraska in 1871 with his parents, he located at West Point, Nebraska. On April 17, 1888 he was united in marriage to Mary Berger of Monterey, Nebraska. To this union nine children were born, three dying in infancy and one son, Henry, in 1922. After residing several years on a farm near West Point, they moved to a place near Neligh, which was their home until 1923. After that time they retired and moved to Creighton and he has lived in this city up to the time of his passing. Left to mourn are his wife, Mary; son, John of Neligh and four daughters, Mrs. Carl Uhing, Craig, Nebr.; Mrs. Joe E. Burke, Lafayette, La.; Mrs. Joe C. Uhing, West Point, Nebr. and Mrs. Albert Tharnish of Creighton. Other surviving relatives are a brother, Frank of Omaha, sister, Mrs. Lena Fenske, West Point, 32 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral rites were held on Saturday morning from the St. Ludger Catholic church at 9:30. The pastor, Rev. Father Windolph, celebrated requiem high mass and preached the sermon. the remains were interred in the St. Ludger cemetery. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Herbert and Ben Uhing of Craig, Leo Uhing of West Point, Edward and John Wortmann of Brunswick and Edward Tharnish of Creighton. Out of town relatives in attendance were: Mr. and Mrs. Joe E. Burke, Lafayette, La.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Uhing and family, Craig; Mr. and Mrs. Joe C. Uhing and family, Mrs. Lena Fenske; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fenske, Mrs. Ben Knobbe, Mrs. Schultzkomme and daughter, all of West Point; Mrs. Kate Berger, Snyder, Nebr.; Leo Wortman, Beemer, Nebr. and Mrs and Mrs. Joe Berger, Plainview, Nebr. ...The Creighton News 16 April 1942
