Description	:	John H. Wortman Sr., 82, a retired farmer of the Brunswick community and a resident of Grand Island for the past 12 years, died Wednesday, Feb. 14 in a Grand Island hospital. He had been in ill health the past two years and was hospitalized four days. Funeral services were conducted Saturday morning at St. Mary's Cathedral, Grand Island. Burial was in St. Ludger Catholic Cemetery at Creighton. John Henry Wortman was born Dec. 17, 1890 at West Point, the son of Henry and Mary Burger Wortman. He moved with his family to a farm in Antelope County as a young man. He and Miss Anna Uhing were married June 17, 1912 at Brunswick. They farmed in that community. Mrs. Wortman died June 27, 1946. He continued to farm until 1949, when he retired and moved to Norfolk. In 1960, he moved to Grand Island. He and Edna Cornelius were married, Oct. 16, 1965 in Grand Island, where they have made their home. He was a member of St. Mary's Parish in Grand Island and affiliated with the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Surviving are his widow; six sons, Leo of Lincoln, John Jr. of Brunswick, Leonard of Creighton, Kenneth of Aurora, Richard of Canoga Park, Calif. and Edward of Lexinton; three daughters, Adeline Thompson and Edith (Stanley)Snodgrass of Tucson, Ariz and Marcella (Robert) Wies of Brunswick; three sisters, Mrs. John Uhing of Dodge, Mrs. Carl Uhing of Craig and Mrs. Albert Tharnish of Norfolk; 37 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
