Description	:	Lowell - Herbert Ashton, a resident of Lowell for the past 35 years, making his home at 1163 Lawrence Street, died yesterday afternoon at the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness, aged 63 years. He was born in Glossop, Derbyshire, England, the son of the late John and Eliza (Booth) Ashton, but came to this country during his late twenties, and immediately settled in Wigginville, where he had since resided. Read More	Lowell - Herbert Ashton, a resident of Lowell for the past 35 years, making his home at 1163 Lawrence Street, died yesterday afternoon at the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness, aged 63 years. He was born in Glossop, Derbyshire, England, the son of the late John and Eliza (Booth) Ashton, but came to this country during his late twenties, and immediately settled in Wigginville, where he had since resided. For the past 14 years, Mr. Ashton had been employed by the McGowan Educator Company. He is survived by his wife, the former Bertha Rhodes; a daughter, Mrs. Edna T. Dowrey; a granddaughter, Carol R. Dowrey; two grandsons, George T. Dowrey, Jr., and Charles H. Dowrey; three sisters, Mrs. Thomas Noble, Mrs. Jessie Higginbottom, and Mrs. Ethel Stancombe, all of Lowell; two brothers, Rev. Lee Ashton of Great Barrington and Stephen Ashton of Lowell; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Ashton was a member of the Matthews Memorial Methodist Church. Funeral services at the Morse Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Arthur Hiley, pastor of the Matthews Memorial Methodist Church. The bearers were John E. Poorer, a cousin of Mr. Ashton; Rowland T. Fletcher, George S. Higginbottom, Harold Noble, Charles N. Robinson, and Arthur W. Stancombe, all nephews. Burial took place in the family lot in Edson Cemetery.
