Mr Schukei was born Sept 17, 1914, to Julius and Amelia (Riese) Schukei on a farm at Juniata. He attended Wanda Zion Parochial School and graduated from Holstein High School in 1933. He graduated from Hastings Business College in 1935. On April 28, 1935, he married Hazel Marchand at Wanda Zion Lutheran church. He farmed in the Juniata area, retiring in 1979. He was a member of Wanda Zion Lutheran Church, holding several offices. He also was a member of the Holstein Board of Education, Adams County Redistricing Board and the Lion's Club in Roseland. He was a director of Roseland State Bank and a 4-H leader. Survivors are his wife; two daughters, Phyllis Johnson of Hastings and Valerie Watts of Sierra vista, Ariz.; one son Roger of Hastings; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren and two step great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
