Hazel was born on April 22, 1915, at Macdonaldsville, Ohio to the Rev Edward and Blanche (Simon) Marchand. Read More	Hastings Tribune Jan 30, 2007 Former Wanda resident Hazel M Schukei, 91, of Hastings died Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital. Hazel was born on April 22, 1915, at Macdonaldsville, Ohio to the Rev Edward and Blanche (Simon) Marchand. In 1916, she and her family moved to Nebraska and lived in several communities throughout Nebraska and Kansas. She graduated from Holstein High School in 1933. She married Herbert Schukei on April 28, 1935 at Wanda Zion Lutheran Church. They farmed and lived in the Juniata area until 1998, when they moved to Hastings. Herbert Schukei died April 23, 2002. She was a member of Wanda Zion Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women's Missionary League. She was also a former 4-H leader. She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, four sisters, and her husband of 67 years. She is survived by her son, Roger Schukei (Cheryl) of Hastings; daughters, Phyllis Johnson (Burdett) of Hastings and Valerie Schukei Watts (Ron) of Pearce, Ariz.; two brothers, Virgil and Dwight Marchand; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and two step great-great-grandchildren.
