Description	:	Herbert H. Wesch, 89, of Fremont, formerly of Ames, died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2010, at the Pathfinder House in Fremont. He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Omaha to Adolph and Henrietta (Heidemann) Wesch. He grew up in Niobrara and moved to Dodge County in Nebraska in 1935. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1938. He was born Sept. 19, 1920, in Omaha to Adolph and Henrietta (Heidemann) Wesch. He grew up in Niobrara and moved to Dodge County in Nebraska in 1935. He graduated from North Bend High School in 1938. Herb served in the U.S. Navy during World War II for three years in the South Pacific. He farmed in the North Bend and Ames area. Herb married Evelyn K. Schutt on June 16, 1946, at North Bend. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend where he was a former Sunday school teacher for many years and held most of the offices within the church. He was a member of the Lutheran Laymen's League. He served for many years on the District 91 School Board at Ames and was a former active member of the Mid America Dairy Association. Survivors include: his wife, Evelyn of Fremont; three sons, Jim Wesch of North Bend, Ken (and wife, Deb) Wesch of Arlington and Bob (and wife, Jan) Wesch of Detroit; daughter-in-law, Betty Wesch of Omaha; a sister, Elizabeth (and husband, Melvin) Mariam of Hastings; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Donald; daughter-in-law, Diana (Downey) Wesch; and four brothers, Fred, Carl, Adolph and Gus Wesch. The funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend with the Rev. Calvin L'Heureux officiating. Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today at Moser Memorial Chapel in North Bend with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service time Wednesday at the church. Military graveside services will be conducted by members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8223 and AmVets Post 20 of North Bend and American Legion Post 340 of Morse Bluff, at Woodland Cemetery in North Bend. Memorials may be given to St. Peter Lutheran Church in North Bend.
