N O Brooks of Brewster officiating. Born in Yakima, February 2, 1894, he moved with his parents to Chelan when he was ten years old. In 1916, the family moved to Pateros. In June 1917, he enlisted in the US Marine Corps and served in Cuba and in Port au Prince, Haiti. He was an active member of the American Legion and the Forty & Eight. He was married in Wenatchee to Cathern Demmitt in 1920. Surviving besides his wife, are: one daughter, Mrs. Eugene Lewis of Tacoma; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Grover of Pateros; three brothers, Dave, of Brewster, Wayne of Seattle and James of the US Coast Guard. The deceased was a member of the American Legion in Pateros and when he and family moved to Brewster, he became a member of the Brewster post and was one of the most active members in either town. Pallbearers were E H Darlington, Frank Ervin, Karl Jess, Lee Cooper, Roy Baumont and Ely Meredith. Interment was in the Pateros cemetery with Pearne Smith's Funeral Home in charge. The American Legion had graveside services.
