Description	:	David "Dave" Grover, 90, of Brewster, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 1999 at Brewster. Dave had just celebrated his 90th birthday on June 17. Dave was born on June 17, 1909, the son of James Garfield and Alice (Peck) Grover in Chelan. Read More	David "Dave" Grover, 90, of Brewster, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 1999 at Brewster. Dave had just celebrated his 90th birthday on June 17. Dave was born on June 17, 1909, the son of James Garfield and Alice (Peck) Grover in Chelan. At the time of his birth, his family lived on a farm up the Antoine Creek and they would travel to Pateros via Alta Lake Canyon. Dave attended Pateros Grammar School through the 8th grade. He then started working in the lumber and carpentry trade to help support the family. In the 1930s, he worked for the State Conservation Corp. and in the fall of 1936, he married Alice Julia Manicke in Wenatchee. He and Alice both worked for the Gamble Lumber Company until the summer of 1942 when they moved to Renton and Dave worked for Boeing until the end of W.W. II in 1945. Dave and Alice returned to Brewster in 1945 with their two daughters, Betty and Judy and built their first home while opening Grover's Cabinet Shop. Grover's is still operated by the family and just celebrated their 50th anniversary. During his lifetime, Dave was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge I.O.O.F., Kiwanis, a member of the Brewster City Council and the Brewster Improvement Club. He also volunteered at the fire department and was a member of the Hope Lutheran Church in Brewster. Dave was a Christian man who was loving, generous and very kind- hearted. He will be greatly missed. Dave loved being in the mountains. He especially loved the Paradise Hill and the Loop Loop Pass area. He is survived by his two daughters, Betty Lundell and Judy Precht; six grandchildren, Dave McNamara, Kim Hughes, Carl and Alice Precht, Michelle and Melissa Lundell; three great-grandchildren, Mark and Melissa Hughes and Justin McNamara. He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, his twin sister, Lottie and three brothers, Mim, Herb and Wayne. Services will be conducted Friday, July 16, 1999 at 10 a.m. from the Hope Lutheran Church at Brewster with Pastor Dan Kunkel officiating. Committal service and interment to follow in the Pateros Cemetery. A reception for friends and family will be held at Betty and Colin Lundell's home at the 13 mile post marker just beyond Methow. Services are under the direction of Barnes Chapel, Brewster.
