Description	:	OBIT: Herbert Hyatt, a Tiverton Township young man was drowned in the Mohican River near Cavallo, las Monday afternoon. Young Hyatt was about 21 years of age and was employed as a farm hand by Mr. Carlos Simmons. At the time mentioned, the two men went to the river on horseback, for the purpose of swimming the horses. Read More	OBIT: Herbert Hyatt, a Tiverton Township young man was drowned in the Mohican River near Cavallo, las Monday afternoon. Young Hyatt was about 21 years of age and was employed as a farm hand by Mr. Carlos Simmons. At the time mentioned, the two men went to the river on horseback, for the purpose of swimming the horses. In the deepest part of the stream, the horse ridden by Hyatt, for some unexplained reason, became unmanageable and began to plunge and rear, unseating the young man, who slid off the animal's back into the deep water and being unable to swim, he soon sank to the bottom. Simmons also was unable to swim, and could render his drowning comrade no aid but he hastily sounded the alarm and several parties were soon at the scene of the drowning. Too late, however, to be of other service than to assist the recovery of the body, which was not discovered and taken from the river until about three hours after the occurrence of the tragic incident. The body was carried to the residence of Mr. Calvin Simmons at Cavallo and after the water had been pumped out of the unfortunate young man; the remains were removed to the home of his father, L. Hyatt, a worthy citizen of Tiverton Township. The remains received interment in the Baptist Cemetery, in the vicinity of the young man's late home.
