Description	:	Mr. Herbert W. Hartmann, 96, Clinton, Iowa, died early Wednesday morning, May 16, 2007 at Westwing Place, DeWitt. Herbert William Hartmann was born February 16, 1911 on the family farm at Elvira, to Paul and Anna (Rathmann) Hartmann. He married Elsie Fuhrmann February 17, 1936 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Parsonage, Clinton. The couple farmed in the Elvira area for 40 years retiring in 1974. Herbert William Hartmann was born February 16, 1911 on the family farm at Elvira, to Paul and Anna (Rathmann) Hartmann. He married Elsie Fuhrmann February 17, 1936 at St. Paul''s Lutheran Parsonage, Clinton. The couple farmed in the Elvira area for 40 years retiring in 1974. Herb was a longtime member of Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, serving on its church council and was a Equity Co-op board member for over 25 years. Following his retirement, he fished every day he could which provided for many family fish frys. He also enjoyed card playing and reading. Preceding Herb in death in addition to his wife, Elsie were an infant son, Paul, a son, David, a grandson, Bill Hartmann, an infant grandson, John Hartmann, his parents, a brother, Andrew and three sisters, Elsie Hartmann, Esther Ripple and Tillie Hartmann. The family will receive friends at Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt, from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday, May 18, 2007. Service of Christian Burial 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church or Westwing Place.
