Vernon Holmes officiating. Interment was in Riverview Cemetery at Savage. Herbert Walter Kuester was born Feb. 19, 1910, the son of William and Augusta Kuester in Mitchell, SD. In 1918, he moved with the family to Richey, Montana, where he grew up and attended schools. In 1933, he married Anna Christina Hedegaard at Savage, and they farmed five miles north of Savage. Anna died in 1953. He married Stella E. Schmitt, May 24, 1958, at Miles City, and they lived and farmed near Savage until February 1974 when they moved to Sidney. He served four terms on the School District No. 7 Board and was past chairman of the board. He also was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Savage and served on the church council. He was stricken while at work in Sidney and was dead on arrival at Community Memorial Hospital April 8, 1974. Survivors include his widow, Stella, of Sidney; two sons, John and Gerald Kuester, step-son Claude Adamson; a daughter, Mrs. John (Marilyn ) Frandsen ; four brothers, Arthur, Harry, Ervin, and William; five sisters, Edna Kluth, Myrtle Nelson, Viola Hedegaard, Lucille Frisk, and Helen Nelson; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Anna, in 1953 and a sister, Mrs. Jim (Alice)Janssen."
