Endter, resident of Aurora County and vicinity for more than 60 years, died at 301 East 10th Street, Mitchell, South Dakota, early Wednesday morning, December 23, 1942, as the result of a heart attack. The funeral was held in the Methodist Episcopal Church Monday, December 28 at 2: P.M., the Rev. R. B. Bonney officiating. Interment was made at the White Lake Cemetery. Pall bearers were Underwood W. Endter was born in Appleton, Wisconsin, November 17 1872 and moved with his parents to South Dakota in 1883 where he lived on a farm near White Lake. As a young man he entered the meat business and continued in that capacity for thirty two years when he sold his business and entered public office. He was married to Miss Lena Blum at White Lake, South Dakota, June 4 1902 to which union was born five children, three boys and two girls, all of whom are living: Carl W. Endter, Erwin H. Enndter, both residing in Trona, California, Theodore R. Endter U.S.N., stationed at Camp Waldron Farragut, Idaho, Mrs. Marie E. Underhill of Alexandria, Virginia and Mrs. Caroline E. Roddy of New York City. Mrs. Endter passed away in 1923 while the children were small, and Mr. Endter maintained his home serving as both father and mother until their maturity. During his life he took an active interest in civic affairs being a member of the Board of Education for approximately ten years. From 1932 to 1936 he served Aurora County as Auditor. In 1936 he was elected County Treasurer and at the expiration of his term retired from public office. He was also a member of the Plankinton I.O.O.F. Lodge. Aside from visiting in the homes of his children, the last years of his life were spent living with and helping care for his mother, Mrs. J. F. Endter ninety one years of age, who is now a patient at the Methodist hospital in Mitchell, South Dakota. Beside his mother, fiver children and one grandchild, Lynn Under hill the immediate family includes Mrs. Lewis Jennings, sister; Miss Pauline Endter, sister; Mr. Fred C. Endter, brother, all of White Lake; and Mrs. Lillie Rush, sister, deceased. All of the children were present except for Carl and Irwin, who were unable to come on account of travel restrictions.
