Read More	PROMINENT FARMER DIED IN ANAMOSA HOSPITAL THURSDAY Funeral Services Were Held For Herman Brodersen Saturday Afternoon Funeral services were held at the Harrington Funeral Home in Wyoming Saturday afternoon for Herman Brodersen, who died in an Anamosa hospital Thursday morning after being confined there for six weeks. Herman Brodersen was born at Horstadt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany on February 4, 1882. At the age of 14 he was confirmed in the Lutheran church. Shortly after that, in the spring of 1896, the family, consisting of his father, Henry Brodersen, and his mother (nee Helen Carstensen) and three sons moved to this country, settling in Jones county where his entire life was spent. The first year he worked in this country he received $100 for his labors. After completing the years work he saved $94 out of his salary, proving that he had started out in life with the idea of making a success in whatever he undertook, in a financial way. On February 14, 1905 he was married to Anna Thomsen of Wyoming, Iowa. Four children were born to this happy union, of whom three survive. Mrs. Lloyd Fadley of Onslow; Mrs Acel Catlett of Wyoming, and Esther at home. The oldest daughter passed away at the age of 10 months. Besides his beloved wife he is survived by three grandchildren, three brothers and one sister, besides other relatives and friends. When, his children and grandchildren came home to spend the day, it was the occasion of his greatest enjoyment. He was a kind husband and a loving father. In 1915, he established the home on the Erickson farm, which he had purchased and which is their present home. About six weeks ago he took seriously ill and not withstanding two operations and much suffering, although the kindest care was given him, he passed away at Anamosa September 5, 1940 at the age of 58 years, seven months and one day. Those who furnished vocal selections during the service were Mrs. Howard Willison and Mrs. F. Briggs of Onslow. They were accompanied by Mrs. Don Smith of Onslow.
