Walter Laughlin officiating. Herman Christian Petersen son of Christian and Anna Christensen Petersen was born February 2, 1908 on a farm near Farwell, Nebraska. The services were held in Our Saviour's Lutheran Church with Rev. Walter Laughlin officiating. Herman Christian Petersen son of Christian and Anna Christensen Petersen was born February 2, 1908 on a farm near Farwell, Nebraska. At an early age the family moved to a farm east of Boelus where he grew to manhood. His education was received at School District No. 28 and he later attended St. Paul Business College at St. Paul. Mr. Petersen was baptized and confirmed at the former Dry Creek Lutheran Church and he never strayed from this teaching which was shown by his love and care toward everyone. On April 5, 1938, he was united in marriage to Myrtle Baldwin at St. Paul. The couple resided their entire married life in a farm near Dannebrog. To this union three daughters and one son were born: Mrs. George (Helen Mae) Chaney of McCook, Mrs. Larry (Marjorie Ann) Lauritsen of Dannebrog and Mrs. Thomas (Doris Jean) Metcalf of Grand Island and son David Herman at home. He passed from this life on Monday, January 25, 1971 at his farm home at the age of 62 years. Besides his wife and children, he is survived and loved by his six grandchildren, Julie and George III Chaney, Kerry and Connie Lauritsen, and Jon and Danette Metcalf; two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Quest of Boelus and Mrs. Miriam Schade of Farwell; three brothers, Gilbert of Topeka, Kansas, John of Gardena, California and Clarence of Newberry Park, California. Preceding in death were his parents, two brothers, Richard and Stanley and one sister LaMay. The soloist was Mrs. Dale Johnson and Mrs. Elmer Christensen was organist. Selections were "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Softly and Tenderly." Casketbearers were Alvin, Jess, Rayburn Johnson, Carl Lauritsen, Earl Dankert, Alvin Christensen and Donald Obermiller. Interment was in the Oak Ridge Cemetery. Arrangements were by the Jacobsen Funeral Home of Dannebrog.
