This was a time of an agreement and a handshake and that is thought to be how the adoption was done. Petersen, 63 of Dannebrog died Monday evening in a Grand Island hospital. Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Dannebrog with the Rev. Irvin Briese officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in Dannebrog. Visitation will be 3-9 p.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen Funeral Home in St. Paul. Mrs. Petersen was born Feb. 16, 1915 in Dannebrog to Frank and Fredricka Enevoldsen Baldwin. She was reared and educated in Dannebrog. She worked at her parents restaurant in Dannebrog then moved to St. Paul where she worked in a necktie factory and a ready-to-wear shop. On April 5, 1938, she married Herman C. Petersen in St. Paul. The couple farmed near Dannebrog. He died in 1971. She remained on the farm with her son. Survivors include a son, David of Dannebrog; three daughters, Mrs. Helen Mae Chaney of Lincoln, Mrs. Marjorie Ann Lauritsen of Dannebrog and Mrs. Doris Jean Damoude of Grand Island, two brothers, Martin of Farwell and Arnold of Grand Island and seven grandchildren.
