Description	:	Herman C. Tweet, 72, of Waukon, Iowa died Tuesday November 22, 1988 at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday November 26 at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Percy Larson conducted the services held at the Big Canoe Lutheran Church, rural Decorah, Iowa. Burial was in the church cemetery with military graveside services by the American Legion Post #62. Martin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Casket bearers were Milton Iverson, Jan Sweeney, Merton Iverson, Charles Istad, David Fitch, and Dennis Juve. Herman was born December 23, 1915 in Pleasant Township, Winneshiek County, Iowa to Charles and Mabel(Istad) Tweet. He attended rural Pleasant Township schools and served in the Navy during World War II and the Merchant Marines on the Great Lakes during the late 1940's. He was a self-employed welder and a member of Big Canoe Church, the Ralph D. Waters American Legion Post #62 and Lawrence D. Anderson VFW #4119. He was preceded in death by a sister, Virgil Unertl. Surviving are two brothers, Durwin Tweet of Decorah, Iowa and Elwood Tweet of San Jacinto, California and a sister, Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Broderick of Vernon, Florida.
