Read More	Georgetown Times August 28 1928 Death Comes to Dr H. D. Beckman Beloved Physician Passes Away after long illness. Dr. Herman Decateur Beckman, beloved physician of Georgetown, passed away at his home here shortly before noon, Saturday, after an extended illness. Dr. Beckman was born in McClellanville fifty two years ago, attended public school in Charleston and was a graduate of the Medical College of South Carolina. Twenty five years ago he moved to this city, and has been engaged in practicing medicine here. Always at the command of his patients he never failed to give them the best that was in him, even near the closed of his life when he was extremely poor health. Dr. Beckman was one of the most popular physicians in the county, and held in the highest esteem by all who knew him. At the last meeting of the County Medical Association, Dr. Beckman was chosen President of the organization. He is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Margaret Evelyn Skinner; his son H.D. Beckman, Jr. his adopted son, Julian Johnson Beckman and two brothers George E. and L. A. Beckman of McClellanville. Funeral services were conducted from the Church of Prince George, of which the doctor was a member, five o'clock Sunday afternoon with the Rev. H. D. Bull officiating. Interment followed in the church yard. The funeral was one of the largest attended in years, throngs of people from all parts of the county and state being present. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Active pall bearers were B. W. Jayroe, E. W. Durant, H. N. Rosen, C. G. Barr, H. L. Smith, S. E. Mercer, J. E. Bevis, and J. D. Johnson. Honorary pall bearers: Doctors W. M. Gaillard, Olin Sawyer, O. L. Brouton, F. A. Bell, H. M. Hucks, C. W. Chapin, and C. W. Rosa and A. K. Dill, S. J. Flaum, B. O. Kornegay, M. M. McCord, H. L. Wright, F. L. Siau, P. C. McClary Sr., F. Ashford, H.L. Oliver, F. G. Query and C. W. Mercer.
