Mr. Harm's death occurred July 21st, after an illness of six weeks and was caused by cancer which had seriously affected his vital organs. Mr. Harms was born in Germany about 56 years ago, and was united in marriage to Miss Johanna Behrends, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wilhelm Behrends, in 1880. The marriage service was performed by Rev. C. Mardorf at the Wayne Center Lutheran church. Mr. and Mrs. Harms made their home on a farm in Wayne Township during the first five years of their married life, and removed in 1885 to a farm in the vicinity of Barnston, Nebraska, where they had since lived. There were four children born to this union, all of whom are married. They are John, Mrs. Ake Oltmans, and Mrs. John Zimmerman all of whom live on farms in the vicinity of Barnston, also Herman who made his home with his parents. In addition to the four children and his widow, Mr. Harms is survived by one brother and three sisters, viz: Henry E. Harms of Wayne Township, Jones County; and Mesdames Ben Herren, Henry Heyen and Gerd Weers, all of Monticello. Those who attended the funeral from Monticello were Mr. and Mrs. Hayo Hayen and Mrs. T.J. Gerdes.
