Herman Huebner, an aged and respected citizen of this community closed his earthly career last Thursday and passed over the dark river from whence there is no return, and the sorrowing family and friends mourn the loss of a kind father, and a good neighbor and friend. Mr. Huebner had almost lived four score years. He lacked only a few weeks of being eighty years old. Deceased has always enjoyed robust health and was unusually strong for a man of his advanced age, until a week ago Sunday he fell down the cellar stairs at the Bahle home where he had gone to spend the evening. It is presumed that he made a mistake when entering the house, and in place of opening the door leading to the reception hall, he opened the cedllar door. He was picked up unconscious and carried to his home. Medical aid was summoned. Careful examination revealed bad bruises on his head and shoulders, but no bones were broken. He remained unconscious until Wednesday night or nearly Thursday morning, when the spirit passed to the great beyond. Funeral services were held at the St. John's Lutheran church Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock, and the remains were taken to the Hanover cemetery to be interred by the side of his wife who preceded him in death several years ago. A large concourse of relatives and friends gathered to pay their last respects to the departed. Found in: The Denison Bulletin and Herald dated Wednesday December 22, 1920, page 2, column 1.
