Description	:	OBITUARY: Herman Jaacks, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Jaacks, was born on Sept. 8, 1877 in Otter Creek township. His parents moved to Goodrich township when he was a small boy and he continued to make this township his home until about two years ago when the family retired to Denison. He was united in marriage on March 6, 1901 to Mis Dorothea Kohlhof. Seven children were born to this union, namely, Minnie, Mrs. Herman Boyens, Elizabeth, Mrs. Edward Boyens, both of Hanover township; Hedwig, Mrs. Robert Schwitzer, Meinhard, John, Herbert and Marie, all of Denison. He was united in marriage on March 6, 1901 to Mis Dorothea Kohlhof. Seven children were born to this union, namely, Minnie, Mrs. Herman Boyens, Elizabeth, Mrs. Edward Boyens, both of Hanover township; Hedwig, Mrs. Robert Schwitzer, Meinhard, John, Herbert and Marie, all of Denison. Mr. Jaacks passed away on April 24th at the Denison hospital following an extended illness, extending over a period of six months. Mr. Jaacks had been a patient in the University Hospital at Iowa City for a time. Mrs. Jaacks preceded her husband in death of May 30, 1940, only a few months after the family had moved to Denison. Left to mourn his death are the above named children, 16 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Alfred Meggers (Elizabeth), and one brother, Emil Jaacks of Denison, and other more distant relatives. Funeral services were held on Sunday, April 26, at the Huebner and Johnson Funeral home with the Rev. A.F. Rinne of the Evangelical and Reformed church of Schleswig in charge. Internment was made in the Morgan township cemetery. Pallbearers were Louie Johannsen, John Eggert, Andrew Sonnichsen, Emil Rathje, Henry Dreesen and Reimer Gluesing.
