Hofman officiated. Burial was in Memory Garden Cemetery at Sioux Center. Visitation was held at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center. He lived his youth in the Sioux Center area and attended country school. He married Lena Kleyn February 14, 1940, at Rock Valley. The couple farmed in the Sioux Center area for 51 years. Mr. Kruid was a member of the Netherlands Reformed Church for many years. Survivors include his wife; three sons, John A. and his wife, Barbara of Laurel, NE, LeRoy G. and his wife, Chris of Jupiter, FL, and Alvin J. "Butch" of Sioux Center; two daughters and their husbands, Ella Mae and Ray Ver Mulm of Sioux Center and Wanda K. and Ron Hulshof of Ireton; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Henry of Rock Valley, Gerrit of Omaha, NE, and Ed of Hawarden; and two sisters, Margarett and Jenny Kruid, both of Hawarden. He was preceded in death by a son, Herman Lee; a brother, James; and two sisters, Alice and Minnie Kruid. Hawarden Independent1991-05-09.
